Naishu Wang, MD, Ph. D. – President and CEO

Dr. Wang received her medical degree in 1970 from Chongqing University of Medical Sciences in China and obtained her doctorate from Ohio University in 1991. With 14 plus years practicing medicine as an OBGYN and her research training, Naishu led the Medical Diagnostic Division at Allied Biotechnology International, Inc from 1991 thru 1996 as their Director before founding Alfa Scientific Designs, Inc. in 1996

Jim P. McMenamy – VP and General Manager

Mr. McMenamy joined Alfa in 2008. With over twenty years experience in the areas of clinical diagnostics and medical devices, a BS in Biomedical Engineering/ Medical Lab Technology and MBA in Marketing and Health Admin., Jim brings a fresh and innovative leadership style to Alfa. Prior to joining Alfa, Jim worked for Inverness Medical Innovations and held the positions of VP-Distribution Relations and VP/ General Manager of Innovacon/ Inverness Medical Professional Diagnostics. While at ACON Laboratories (1999-2006) he held key positions such as VP of Sales and Marketing and GM Professional/OTC Diagnostics and was instrumental in recruiting their key talent and substantially contributed to their presence in the lateral flow industry. Jim also previously worked for Quidel Corp., Biotest Diagnostics Corp., and Becton Dickinson to name a few.

Chai Bunyagidj, Ph. D. – Chief Operating Officer

With 20 plus years of technical and management experience in the medical device and diagnostic industry, Mr. Bunyagidj joined Alfa in 2003 in charge of Business Development later to become its COO in 2007. Prior to Alfa, Chai held key positions at Triosent, San Diego Biotech, and Hybritech Inc. as well as VP positions at Applied Biotech Inc. While at American University, Washington, D.C. Chai received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and his Post-Doctoral for Research. Chai also holds a BS in Chemistry from the Prince of Songkla University in Thailand.

Nam Shin – Director of Manufacturing and New Product Development

In June 2009, Mr. Shin joined Alfa to focus on driving new manufacturing initiatives and delivering new products to the marketplace. Nam has over 18 years of experience in the areas of clinical diagnostics, medical devices and research and development. Prior to joining Alfa, Nam worked for Princeton Bio Meditech Corporation, in New Jersey, as their Associate Director and Product Manager of Product Development for over 10 years. He also held key research positions at the Hanhyo Institute of Technology in Seoul, Korea. Nam holds an MBA in Strategy and Marketing as well as a Masters and Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry.

Suni L. Dungan – Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs Manager

Ms. Dungan joined the Alfa team in January 2010 to head up our QA/RA department. Suni began her career with Johnson and Johnson’s “A” Company and over the years has worked with medical device manufacturers such as Medical Device Delivery Systems and REVA Medical, Inc. She comes to Alfa having spent over 25 years in the medical device industry with her longest term at 4-D Neuroimaging in Purchasing Management and Quality Management. Combined with training from UCSD San Diego and 15 years of experience in Quality System auditing to international regulations, Suni brings essential skills to Alfa’s Quality Management System.
