Instant-view® Lateral Flow Test
Lateral flow assays have provided a very useful tool for three decades. Use of the technology is widespread and has proven an inexpensive way to screen, qualitatively and semi-quantitatively, in point-of-care environments. Lateral flow tests are used for medical diagnostics and detect the presence or absence of a target analyte in a sample matrix without the need for additional specialized and expensive medical equipment. The tests are utilized either for at-home-testing, point-of-care testing, or in clinical laboratories, depending on the tests regulatory clearances.
Throughout over 20-year history, ALFA has fine-tuned our manufacturing capabilities to a level that ensures the highest quality of lateral flow test output. All products are produced in the USA. ALFA's Instant-view® lateral flow tests stand for quality our customers have come to rely on and trust.

1. How is ovulation detected in rapid diagnostic tests?
Diagnostic tests detect female ovulation when human Luteinizing Hormone (hLH) peaks in elevation during the menstrual cycle. This elevated peak is better known as the ‘LH surge’. This surge has been used successfully as an aid to predict ovulation that is regulated by the elevation of hLH. Usually, hLH remains at a basal level during the menstrual cycle and has a brief, significant, rapid increase around 14 days before the next period starts. The hLH surge triggers ovulation: the release of an egg or eggs from the ovary. HLH returns to its basal line 2 to 3 days after ovulation. Studies have shown that conception most likely happens within thirty-six hours following the hLH surge.
Instant-view® hLH Ovulation tests utilize antibodies highly specific to hLH. If you obtain a positive result from this test, it indicates that you may ovulate within thirty-six hours.
2. Instant-view® hLH Ovulation tests do not have the false positive result problems that are typical to most other ovulation tests on the market. Can you explain why?
When the hLH surge occurs, the structure of hLH in the urine is intact. After the surge, fragments of hLH remain in the urine. ALFA tests detect the intact hLH structure that is present in urine at ovulation. Tests that detect hLH fragments in the urine produce false positives because ovulation has already occurred.
ALFA’s hLH ovulation test detect only the intact hLH which indicates the true surge of hLH. There are far too many hLH tests on the market that detect fragmented hLH and produce false positive results and cause confusion.
